Bread of Life Food Ministry began in January 1993. Pastor Bill Barker of New Life Fellowship asked the church to pray during the week between Christmas and the New Year about what God would have the church do in the year of 1993. The answers came back unanimous, "Feed the Hungry all year not just at Thanksgiving and Christmas." The overwhelming confirmation came the next day when a local ministry called to ask if we could pick up bread from them one day a week and distribute it to hungry folks.
Bread of Life was born. Quickly, within the next twelve months, Bread of Life went from distributing breads and bakery goods on Wednesdays to offering a full range of groceries 4 days a week. Truly God was in this!
Bread of Life at the present time has additional locations in Tennessee and North Georgia and provides toys to thousands of children at Christmas.
